DOES LIFE MATTER?

This morning at the gym I was walking by one of the television sets and noticed some footage of an attack by two teenagers on an older man. On closer inspection it was two guys beating up and killing a homeless man. Two teens in Broward County Florida stand accused of beating to death a homeless man with a baseball bat. The question is, "how do you get there?" How do two teens get to the point of attacking a harmless homeless man? It was a display of total depravity in action as well as a striking comment on life and its lack of value. There is an incredible connection to be made.

When life is devalued in a society as it is in our society then not only will the killing of millions of unborn children be commonplace, so will the attacks on the weak, feeble and helpless, like the one in Florida. Children today grow up in a culture that is desensitized to killing, through media and video games. It is common for kids to spend hours in role play games on line and in front of their television sets. Television shows are available that show random acts of violence on people. There is a show where homeless people are paid to be hit and beaten up. It is the devaluing of life.

Life is a gift from God, precious and sacred. It should be valued as such from the womb to the grave. It will not be as long as people can deceive themselves into denying their Creator. You see once a person has to admit to their being a Creator then they are beholden to that Creator. Then they must answer to that Creator, then they are responsible and accountable to that Creator, and that is the real issue. People deny that in their futile attempt to go through this life denying His existence and His right on their lives. Graciously He has given His Son Jesus Christ to reconcile and make right the relationship between the Creator and His Creation. For those who receive Christ there is the opportunity to value and live out life to His Glory. For those who do not, there continues a whistling by the grave existence, hoping there is nothing after this.
