MORE IGNORANCE FROM THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM!

Here is more genius from the public school realm,particularly Apopka Memorial Middle School in Apoka Florida. What this school decided to do was to teach 8th graders about the holocaust, a worthwhile goal. The problem is the method they chose to do it. What the school did was to take all students whose last names ranged from L to Z, and gave them yellow five point stars to wear. Those children who had the stars were then discriminated against the rest of the day. From not being able to drink at certain water fountains to one child being sent to the end of the lunch line four times by a school official.

Parents of course were outraged over this experiment in teaching. One dad John Tinelly said this to reporters about his sons reaction to this "teaching" method;

"He was crying," Tinnelly said. "I said, 'What are you crying about?' He said, 'Daddy, I was a Jew today."

Students were chosen to be privileged or persecuted and they were not told ahead of time about any of this, as those who were in charge thought it would not be as effective if the students or parents were told ahead of time. And here lies the biggest problem of all , the continued ignorant position of public schools to not inform parents of what is actually going on in their schools. Once again parents are finding out after the fact and after the damage has been done.

So what was learned from this experiment in teaching? Well one student summed it all up when asked what he learned from this, his response was " all that I learned was that I do not want to be Jewish". Another fine job by the school system that you and I fund with our hard earned dollars!

JOEL OSTEEN, TO BE EMBRACED OR ACCURSED?

In today's New York Times you will find an article written by Ralph Blumenthal. The article is entitled;
A Preacher's Credo: Eliminate the Negative, Accentuate Prosperity

Here are some quotes from the article:

"Again and again in the first book, Mr. Osteen exhorts readers to shun negativity and develop "a prosperous mindset" as a way of drawing God's favor. He tells the story of a passenger on a cruise ship who fed himself on cheese and crackers before realizing that sumptuous meals were included. "Friend, I don't know about you, but I'm tired of those cheese and crackers!," Mr. Osteen writes. "It's time to step up to God's dining table."

Or, as he also puts it: "God wants you to be a winner, not a whiner."

"But I do believe, you know what, God can want you to have a better house. God wants you to be able to send your kids to college

Before the collection was taken, Victoria Osteen urged generosity as a way of drawing God's favor. "He not only wants to enrich you but do things for you you know nothing about," she said. "Let him breathe the breath of life into your finances and he'll give it back to you bigger than you could ever give it to him," she said. To which the congregation, said, "Amen," and the buckets went around

And the beat goes as thousands flock to Osteens church. The reality is that this is nothing new. It is simply a continuation of the prosperity gospel that has been preached for years by a variety of people. But is that the gospel? This is the question that millions who blindly follow Osteen fail to consider. Is what he espouses week after week in his "pulpit" the true gospel? This is a question that must be answered and carries the greatest amount of gravitas of any question that could be proposed.

If it is not the true gospel, if Osteen is not preaching the true gospel then according to Galatians 1:8 his teaching must be accursed. So I encourage you to check your Bible and ask yourself is what Osteen preaches and teaches the gospel. The answer is obvious to me, but check for yourself. Take a look at Jesus teachings and line them up with Osteens and see how much or how little they agree. Consider those results the next time you see his smiling face on your television!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Now that I am back from the Vision America conference, allow me some reflections and observations. First of all I met many dedicated well intentioned people who sincerely love the Lord and their country. I was impressed by the level of passion in those attending the event. Most if not all of the people I spoke with had a passion for the Lord, and the United States of America. Second I found myself very impressed with the character of the speakers. In having the chance to speak with people like Alan Keyes, Janet Folger and others, I noted an incredible sincerity in them that was refreshing, particularly to one who tends to keep a skeptical eye on things. Third I found myself pleasantly surprised to listen to Congressman Tom Delay share how it was that he came to Christ some twenty two years ago. Sitting there listening to him reminded me of something I know very well, you cannot believe everything you read in the media about somebody.

All in all it was a rewarding experience and a privilege to address the conference on Monday. What strikes me the most in reflecting on it is that there truly are a serious group of people out there who are engaged in the cultural battle. When you feel that you are alone and no one is out there battling with you, take heart because you have comrades in the battle. Sitting in this conference, for the most part reminded me of when the Lord came to Elijah to remind him he is not alone. That He has a remnant in the land to do battle for Him.

So fellow soldiers in the cultural war, take heart, God has a remnant out there fighting the good fight with you, for His glory!

IT'S ELECTION DAY!

In the Knesset there are 120 seats and the party with the most seats controls the government. What is the Knesset? It is the govenment of Israel. Elections are today and the party that wins the most seats will elect the new leader of Israel and control the government. The two major parties vying for control are Likud and Kadima. Likud is the more conservative led by Benjamin Netanyahu and the Kadima is less conservative being led by Elmud Omhert who took over for Prime Minister Sharon. Todays election is important as it will determine who leads Israel and more importantly who will deal with the new Palestinian leadership.

What is at stake is control of Jerusalem, and ultimately the climate of the Middle East. What happens today will have an effect on the rest of the world including our country. Hamas who now controls Palestine, is looking for nothing less than the removal of Israel into the sea. If anyone believes that there can be peace with Hamas they are not paying attention. The average american probably is not aware elections are being held today in Israel and what is at stake, but you can be sure if the more liberal party is elected and more land is given up to the terrorists who run Palestine, then every terror group in the world will be emboldened more than they are now.

Giving up more land to terrorists is no different than giving ground in the cultural war we are in, it never works. So keep an eye on the elections to see which party takes control. Will it be the conservative Likud, the moderate Kadima or the third party I failed to mention the ultra liberal Labor party? The answer to that question will bring consequences to our shores!

IT'S PROM TIME!

Today I am blogging from the Vision America Conference in Washington DC. I had the pleasure of speaking on a panel in the noon hour and from all accounts, most importantly from my wife, it went very well. But enough of that, as usual there are troubling trends to watch and report on. Villa Maris is an all girls school that is having a prom in the Buffalo area. Sound normal? Well it was until Laura Murphy decided she wanted to attend with her lesbian girl friend. The prom is traditionally for juniors and seniors and the norm has been boys with girls. Well the school is standing its ground and not allowing her to bring her girlfriend. Of course this is bringing all kinds of heat on the school, but as of now they are holding firm.

The bigger question for us is what will we do when this hits our local high schools? Or does it matter any more? Is your reaction becoming more of what's the big deal, or does it still offend and shock you? Are we slowly losing our ability to be embarrassed, or do we still recoil at this? This situation is a good one for us to check just where we are at and how far we have or have not moved on these issues. So how do you, or would you feel about homosexual and lesbian couples attending your child's school prom? In the answer is the truth of where you stand in the cultural war.

IN JANDRE'S MEMORY

In South Africa we receive one of the most disturbing stories of all time. Four-year-old Jandre Botha was in the unfortunate position of living with his mother and her lesbian lover. He was told to call her lover daddy, to which he being smarter than the adults refused. He knew that you do not call a woman daddy. He knew at four years old that the other woman in his house who slept in mom's bed did not qualify to be called daddy. The tragedy of this story is that this four year olds refusal cost him his life. The lesbian lover Engeline de Nysschen thirty three years old, viciously assaulted Jandre while demanding that he must call her "Daddy".

It gets worse. The mother lied in court trying to protect her lover. They both said the child slipped in the bathroom, and that is how he sustained the injuries that led to his death. This is total depravity. Not only is the child dead, but the mother tried to protect the woman who killed her son. Fortunately the court found them both guilty of murder, as the boys father sat stunned in the courtroom with his fiancee. How many other four year olds are being taught to call a woman daddy, or a man mommy? How many other children are being raised in homes that are a total perversion and mockery of God and His creation? This poor four year old boy knew better than the adults he lived with, what was right and what was wrong. He knew instinctively that a woman is not daddy, and a man is not mommy, and that this relationship his mother had was not correct!

Adoption by homosexual couples is the next battle in the cultural war. If we are not diligent and involved then two mommies or two daddies, or women wanting to be called daddy and men wanting to be called mommy will be accepted as common and normal. May God have mercy on us all!

HOW CLOSE ARE WE TO BECOMING NORTH KOREA?

Here is a sad reminder of the brutality that still exists in our world today, from the wires:

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has no people with physical disabilities because they are killed almost as soon as they are born, a physician who defected from the communist state said on Wednesday.
Ri Kwang-chol, who fled to the South last year, told a forum of rights activists that the practice of killing newborns was widespread but denied he himself took part in it
"There are no people with physical defects in North Korea," Ri told members of the New Right Union, which groups local activists and North Korean refugees.
He said babies born with physical disabilities were killed in infancy in hospitals or in homes and were quickly buried.
The practice is encouraged by the state, Ri said, as a way of purifying the masses and eliminating people who might be considered "different"

This is only one of the many atrocities committed by this evil regime and their lunatic leader. It makes you wonder why we or any civilized country would ever agree to negotiate someone like this, let alone make agreements with them as President Clinton did under his failed administration. But the bigger question to consider today is how far are we as a society from doing the same thing? How long will it be before we like North Korea are killing those who are born disabled. How long will it be before we hear arguments being made as to how compassionate it is to kill them, and what a blessing it will be for others who can be the recipients of the good organs the disabled do have?

Sound crazy? Well so did abortion, partial birth abortion, euthanasia and same sex marriage, not too long ago!

DIVERSITY?

At Viroqua High School in Viroqua, Wisc., diversity day has been cancelled. What a "shame" that the kids at the high school will not be able to celebrate diversity. There were a number of speakers from a variety of religions as well as a homosexual couple scheduled to speak. Just another average diversity day in the high schools of America, but this one was cancelled. Why you ask? Well there was one speaker that crossed the line. There was one speaker that was able to get on the roster of speakers that threw the whole event into chaos.

Through the Liberty Counsel there was put into the program a former homosexual to speak at diversity day. Well that went too far. The homosexual couple stated they would feel "too uncomfortable" having that speaker there, and so they would not speak. Others raised their protests about the former homosexual speaker to the point where the organizers decided to cancel diversity day. Once again we see the incredible hypocrisy in those who would put on these events. Diversity is fine as long as you do not have anyone speak that goes against the liberal homosexual agenda. Tolerance is needed unless it calls for tolerance for those who hold a biblical worldview. Again their hypocrisy, intellectual weakness and dishonesty is evidenced to the world.

But this is also a call to action for believers. What a great example and roadmap to be involved in these diversity days. I have said for some time that Christians should demand equal time in these diversity weeks, or days. And here is someone who finally did something about it and look what happened. Those who want diversity could not stand having someone who held a different viewpoint then them being included, which is diversity. So they took their ball and went home. It does not get any clearer or better than this!

READING WRITING AND AIDS?

In another "brilliant" move from our public educators, New Yorks City's Public Education department began teaching students about AIDS yesterday. Now you might be thinking, what is wrong with that, as it is important for students to understand AIDS and HIV. Well the problem is that the students being targeted for this "teaching" were five year olds! That is correct, five year olds. This department of so called educators feel that five year olds need to know about AIDS. Parents do have the option to remove their children but are called on to teach their children at home. The usual grade for AIDS education in this system is fourth grade, which I think is still too young, but I am sure we can all agree that five is ridiculous.

So why teach a five year old about AIDS? Bill Donahue has it right, from the wires;

"Bill Donohue of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights insists, however, that fact makes little difference.
What matters, he says, is "that this represents a coordinated effort on the part of city officials to sexually engineer our children."

Exactly right! This is nothing more than an indoctrination of five year olds into the homosexual orientation. It is an attempt to sexually engineer children from an early age to accept the perversity of homosexuality as normal. Five year olds have no business being exposed to this teaching. It is an outrageous attack on our children once again. So keep an eye out, if it is done in New York, it will most certainly be attempted in your school system. There are a lot of things five year olds need to learn, this certainly is not one of them!

A BROTHER IN NEED OF YOUR PRAYERS!

Let me begin by thanking all of those who prayed for me while I was away speaking at a conference last week. As always it was great to see Gods people in a different part of the world. Praise God for His faithful people who minister in the islands, they are diligently working for Him. It was inspiring to see and be a part of. But also as always, it is good to be back, so lets get right to it.

Abdul Rahman, believed to be 41, converted to Christianity some 16 years ago. He is being tried in Afghan courts for the crime of being a Christian. Not only is he being tried for that "heinous" crime, they are seeking the death penalty.

"We are not against any particular religion in the world. But in Afghanistan, this sort of thing is against the law," the judge told the Associated Press. "It is an attack on Islam. ... The prosecutor is asking for the death penalty."

Rahman was turned in by his relatives! This is the world in which many believers live today. For those of us whom God in His Sovereignty placed in the comfortable Western part of the world, this is a concept we cannot get our arms around. Nevertheless it is a fact in much of the world that followers of Jesus Christ are paying the ultimate price for their faith daily. Particularly in places like Afghanistan where ninety nine percent of the twenty eight million people are Muslim. The prosecutor in the case has offered to drop the charges against Rahman if he would convert back to Islam. An offer which to the glory of God, this brother has refused.

So pray for him that he would be strong and not renounce his faith, but stay true to Christ. And pray for all of those who today, while we go about our normal lives, will be beaten and even killed for their faith!

GOODBYE FOR NOW!

Early Monday morning I leave to go and speak at a Caribbean Pastors Conference. I will speak Monday through Thursday and return on Friday. I would ask for your prayers, that I would speak His words and not my own. Pray for those whom I will be speaking to that God would give them encouragement and refreshment from His Word. It is always a privilege and humbling to go and speak in other parts of the world. To be able to see how God is working in His people throughout the globe. So I covet your prayers, even now as I must finish up a few sermons as well as the one for my own church on Sunday. Also pray for my family while I am gone, as well as my church.
So it is goodbye for a week, as I do not believe I will be blogging next week. But will be back at it March 20th!

BILL SB FOOLISH!

Here is why it matters who gets involved in the political arena. California Senator Sheila Kuehl has filed bill, SB 1437, described this way, from the wire;

"the legislation would add "gender" (actual or perceived) and "sexual orientation" to the law that prohibits California public schools from having textbooks, teaching materials, instruction or "school-sponsored activities" that reflect adversely upon people based on characteristics like race, creed and handicap. "

What this could mean according to the Capitol Resource Institute, "it could potentially require gender-neutral bathrooms in our schools and all references to 'husband' and 'wife' or 'mom and dad' removed from school textbooks as the norm"

This is clearly a bill attempting to do away with traditional family roles, radical crazy things like mom and dad. The bill would also reach into school activities which would do away with prom kings and queens. It would also blur the lines of common sense when it comes to sports activities. You will probably not be surprised to know Sen. Kuehl is a lesbian. And this is simply another attempt by the homosexual activist community to indoctrinate our children into the homosexual lifestyle. But here is the point, Sen. Kuehl, to her credit ran for office and won, and thus has the ability to introduce foolish legislation like this.

This is why believers should be involved in all arenas of life, including the arena of politics. To be a voice of reason and decency. To be used of God to stem the tide of perverted ideas such as this one. You know right from wrong, and you are able to think more clearly than many of those who currently serve in elected office. Why not take a run at a local office? Otherwise you might one day find yourself in a neutral/transgendered public restroom in a stadium watching the prom "it" being introduced at the halftime of the cross dressing high school track meet!

AMERICANS USUALLY GET IT RIGHT!

There is a new poll out that might surprise you. According to a survey by Rasmussen Reports, 55% of Americans believe that abortion is morally wrong most of the time. That means that the majority of Americans believe most of the time abortion is wrong. Why that might surprise you is because that is not what you hear in the media. If you were to simply believe what you read and hear in the media you would believe that America is solidly pro abortion, which in fact is not the case. The truth is that the people of America get it right most of the time. The majority in our country usually will get it right if given the opportunity.

If Americans were given the opportunity to simply vote on abortion, I am convinced that abortion would be made illegal in most situations. If Americans were given the opportunity to vote, gay marriage would never exist in any state in the country. If my hypothesis is correct, and I believe it is, the question we must ask ourselves is why then are so many things done that are contrary to the will of the majority of the people. The answer is that tragically most people in our country have given over control to the loudest most rabid group. Whoever whines the loudest and can raise the most money gets to dictate what happens.

It doesn't have to be that way. Do you realize that? I am afraid that not enough of us realize that we do have the power, barely. I say barely because it is slipping away, but at this point in our country the people can still dictate if they have the will to, and therein lies the problem. Too many of us are more concerned with the latest episode of 24 or the new baseball season than we are with who is actually dictating the course of the states in which we live. So as you consider the reality that the majority of the people in this country are pro life and pro traditional marriage, ask yourself why it is abortion is still legal and states are making provision for homosexual couples to wed. The answer to that question begins with you!

A MUTE POINT!

Here is one for pondering, Mute Math a "Christian" band is suing its label for being promoted as a "Christian" band! Now I confess to never having listened to or even heard of them before today, but I find their position interesting. This is a group that performs at Christian festivals and tours with other artists who tout themselves as "Christian" artists. But the band feels that it was lied to by their label and that the label went behind their back to promote them as "Christian", which they obviously vehemently disagree with. So much so, that they have hired an attorney to represent them. Here is a quote from their attorney:

"Theres a credibility gap. Mute Math is not a worship artist. They don't preach from (the) stage. They don't preach in their interviews. Those things are required of you when you work in the Christian market."

Now those in the group say they are believers. Is this what you want as your statement on the issue? Do you want your lawyer out there using as evidence the sad reality that you do not preach from the stage or lead people to worship? Well I guess they have made their point that they are not a "Christian" band. They have also made the point that they are on the one hand glad to take money from Christians but on the other hand they do not want to identify with them as it limits their money intake. A clear warning to all of us of the dangers of loving money instead of God, as God in His Word tells us you cannot do both.

As far as their music goes, the point is mute!

COWARD U!

This past Friday at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, UNCCH, a young man drove an SUV into a crowd of students. No one was killed but understandably some were injured, and one student went flying over the windshield. What would possess someone to do this? According to the wires:

"Police said Mohammad Taheri-azar, a 2005 UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, admits he acted to "avenge the death of Muslims around the world".

This former student was seeking to kill Americans to avenge the death of Muslims around the world. Which if you follow this blog you understand that this act is consistent with Islam, the "religion of peace". But that is not the issue today, the issue is the college and its lack of courage to do the right thing. The college refuses to call this what it is , an act of terrorism. Students today are protesting the colleges lack of courage, as well they should. Here is one students take on it;

"This is innocent people being attacked by an SUV, driven by a man who was doing it for retaliation for treatment of Muslims around the world," said Jillian Bandes, with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. "To me, that spells terrorism."

She is exactly right, which begs the question, why is the school having such a problem figuring this out? The truth is that they are not, but like so many others in our country they are afraid of Radical Islamists. They are acting in cowardice and not calling this act what it truly was, terrorism! The perpetrator admitted as much. It is not like they have to guess at the motive, he told them. But the college fears Islam so they cower in fear and hope it goes away.

But it is not going away, and the sooner people speak the truth the better. Islam is a vicious rabid movement that seeks to kill you and your children and take over your country. History tells us that, the writings of Islam tell us that, in fact the founder Mohammed tells us that. This is how far we have fallen in our country, I was told last week that I better be careful with what I say about this subject. The person telling me that had first hand experience on the receiving end of Islamists who terrorize people into silence. The moment we as a society go silent in fear, that is the moment we are done. So, speak the truth, and fear not, your heavenly Father is in control of all, even those who would seek to harm you!

The encouraging aspect of this story is that students see it and will stand up for the truth today. The discouraging aspect is that most likely it will have no effect on the cowardice of the college!

HISTORY WILL JUDGE US AS SELF CENTERED SPIRITUAL BRATS!

As time goes by I am more and more convinced that the greatest need in the Church today is a return to Scripture. Our era will be seen by historians as one where the Church strayed from the Word of God, toward the self help, psycho-therapeutic man centered teachings. You do not need me to tell you that, all you need to do is look at the best sellers in the Christian marketplace for books. The biggest sellers of all time are those books that are geared to make you believe that you are the center of the world, and your purpose is what matters. That you need to live a certain Old Testament prayer in order to have your area of influence or ministry increased. That you need to become a person of purpose in order to have the best life possible. It is the tragedy of the modern evangelical era.

Even evangelicalism has strayed from its roots. In its inception it was a movement that endeavored to stick to the Word of God. Throughout the years it has become a melting pot of liberalism with its president Ted Haggard recently claiming everyone from JI Packer to Benny Hinn as its members. Though we would agree on Packer, having Hinn in your camp is an endorsement of a charletan heretic who is out to fleece people from their money. Christianity Today, once a magazine heralding otrhodoxy has become anything but that, in fact it is a meeting place of every aberrant teaching under the sun.

So what is the big deal and what can we do about it? The big deal is that there is an army of so called Christians running around claiming and teaching things in the name of Christ that are not true. Things like the promise of health and wealth, things like the belief that there is not a need to confront someone with the truths of the Gospel. Teachings like homosexuality is acceptable to God. That methods are the important thing and not offending people should be the goal. That church is not important and if you have been hurt or offended well then it is ok to stay at home and just have church at home or through the television or radio. And what happens is that people are unable to glorify God in real life where suffering and tragedy and problems are the norm. People believe they are the center of the universe and thus they cannot handle "no", or pain. And ultimately the gospel is distorted and is no longer the gospel.

What can we do? Be passionate about Gods Word. Demand that our churches preach and teach the Word of God. If they do not , leave and find another or find a man of God that will stick to the Word of God. This is a critical time in the history of Gods Church and His people need to demand His Word from the pulpits of America! God is out for God and His glory.

This blog is a result of a conversation I had today with a man at the gym. He is not a believer and struggling with loss and bad relationships. He wants God in his own way on his own terms. I have had good conversations with him and today he said, "I have asked God why?" I then asked him what he would do if God told him why, to which he had no answer. But it got me thinking that this is like much of the church today. People wanting God on their own terms, which is the result of the man centered teaching of our day. People believing they do not need church, or that they can dictate to God as to how they will behave as His "children". I am afraid my friend at the gym is typical of the church, man centered, lacking submission to the authority of His Word. So pray for him that he would come to faith in Christ, and also pray for the church that it would turn from the broken cisterns found in many of the popular Christian books today and turn back to the Living Water of His Word!

FRIGHTENING IGNORANCE

In a 10th grade geography class in Aurora Colorado students heard the following from their teacher Jay Bennish;

he called the U.S. "probably the single most violent nation on planet Earth" and described capitalism as a system "at odds with human rights."

he found "eerie similarities" to Bush's statements in his State of the Union speech and things Adolf Hitler said, i.e., "We're the only ones who are right. Everyone else is backwards. And it's our job to conquer the world and make sure they live just like we want them to."

Bennish asked:
Who is probably the single most violent nation on planet Earth?
(Unidentified student responds: We are.)
Who has the most weapons of mass destruction in the world? The United States.
Who's continuing to develop new weapons of mass destruction as we speak? The United States. "

Another example of wonderful public, oops, government school system teaching. The problems with his statements are many. Not that he has to endorse the administration or agree with them at all. But just the factual void in his statements is what is frightening. That this uninformed 29 year old can be in a position to have authority and influence over young people is truly tragic. You do not need me to point out the errors of his statements , they are obvious. What does need to be pointed out is the continued enabling of propaganda in our schools. He was suspended, but you can be sure he will be back. It is our tax dollars that are paying for this Pravda like attack on our country. This teacher is no different than the leader of Iran who claims there was no Holocaust. Each is as ignorant as the other.

This is just another example of the need for mom and dad to be in charge of their kids education. If your child is in public, oops, government schools, be involved at every level. Do not believe that when they head off to school they are heading to a safe place where they are going to be educated. The reality is that more and more you are sending your kids off to an institution to be indoctrinated! This is also another call for believers to head into the mission field of public, oops, government school teaching. There is maybe no greater place to serve God than in the field of teaching in the public, oops, government school system. If parents stay involved on the outside and believers in Christ are working on the inside, then we will see the tide begin to change!

IS THE FIRST AMENDMENT A GROUP ON AMERICAN IDOL, OR A SEGMENT OF THE SIMPSONS?

Here is a troubling new survey that gives some good insight into why our culture is in as much trouble as it is.

"Only one in four Americans can name more than one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment (freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly and petition for redress of grievances.) But more than half can name at least two members of the cartoon family, the Simpsons, according to a survey conducted by the McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum . The survey found more people could name the three "American Idol" judges than identify three First Amendment rights"

What happens when you have a society that is more familiar with the Simpsons and the Judges on American Idol than its own Consitution? What happens is that you end up with a shallow materialistic me centered society that takes nothing serious. You end up with a society that has sacrificed thinking on the altar of mindless entertainment. Could you name the freedoms of the First Amendment? Could you recite the First Amendment? To my shame I could not quote it word for word, though I did know all the freedoms. To help us all, here is your First Amendment;

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

Did you know it, or any part of it? It would do us all good to be more familiar with things like the Constitution, but the bigger and greater question for believers today is do we know more about shows like the Simpsons and American Idol, or even our favorites sports team than we do Gods Word? That is the question whose answer will not only have cultural ramifications but also eternal!
