I know I have said before that I am beyond being amazed, well as it turns out I am not. From the wires:

( - "In a move that has pro-family groups shaking their heads, the United States has backed the application of homosexual activist groups to acquire special status at the United Nations. A coalition of largely Asian and African countries sought to dismiss the applications for NGO status of two homosexual activist groups which they felt had not yet sufficiently distanced themselves from pedophilia, and were moreover doubtful of the contributions that the groups would make to the UN's work"

The Lesbian and Gay Federation of Germany had applied for special status with the UN. Iran and eight other nations opposed the application because of its connection with pedophiles. Remarkably the United States was voting with Germany in trying to gain special status for this German group. I am sure there are politics involved and other issues at hand, but this is unacceptable. Homosexuals are not a race, they are not a group entitled to special rights. The fact that our country would be in favor of this is shameful.

I would like to know where John Bolton the new "tough" ambassador to the Un stands on this. For that matter where is the President in all of this? The bottom line is that this is his administration and these things are going on on his watch. Frankly if this passes with the consent of this administration I would be in favor of impeachment of President Bush. In 1993 the International Lesbian and Gay Association was granted NGO status by the UN. But many countries were concerned because of its connection with the Man Boy Love Association. Bill Clinton, to his credit, in 1994 signed a bill to withhold 119 million dollars from the UN, authored by Sen. Jesse Helms that stated;

"no UN agency grants any official status, accreditation, or recognition to any organization which promotes, condones, or seeks the legalization of pedophilia, that is, the sexual abuse of children".

NGO means you are recognized by the UN as a non governmental organization. With all the special rights that go along with it. It is like being your own country and having entree to the world stage. So, my amazement today is that I agree with how Iran voted on this issue and I have more respect for what President Bill Clinton did dealing with this then I presently have for President George Bush, although I hold out hope that he will do the right thing.
These are amazing times!
