Ben Roethlisberger sadly, yesterday was in a motorcycle accident that left him in serious condition. After many hours of surgery it looks as if Ben will be fine, as far as every day life, but playing quarterback again for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the jury is still out on that. The tragic thing about the accident is that Ben was not wearing a helmet. Athough he had been spoken to last year about the need for a helmet, due to the law not requiring one in Pennsylvania, Ben said he did not need to wear one, and would, "be careful".

I want to suggest another reason for Ben not wearing a helmet, feeling invincible! At his age, early twenties, the starting quarterback for the Super Bowl Champion, Ben felt as if nothing could happen to him. Sadly many people live their lives day by day with the same attitude. Ignoring the real possibility that today could be the day they leave this earth. Or today could be the day when some life changing event is going to happen. This is why Gods Word instructs us to redeem the time. Use the time He allows us on this earth for His glory. There are basic things we should do each day, like wear helmets when we ride motorcycles. These are the
no-brainers that should be a given. This tragic accident should be a reminder to each of us that we are not invincible and are only a breath away from eternity.

I believe Ben is a believer in Christ, so pray for his recovery, and that God would be most glorified through this event. Pray that it would be another example of what the world looks at as a tragedy He uses for our good and His glory!
