If ever there was an example of how bad theology affects someone's life, here it is. Pastor Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation he was going to walk on water off the coast of West Africa in the same manner as Jesus did. From the wires;

"He told churchgoers he'd had a revelation that if he had enough faith, he could walk on water like Jesus," an eyewitness told the Glasgow Daily Record.

"He took his congregation to the beach saying he would walk across the Komo estuary, which takes 20 minutes by boat. He walked into the water, which soon passed over his head and he never came back."

This man died due to the wrong view of God, ie. bad theology. A striking example of the need to know the Word of God and not just take someone else's word for what the Word says! There are millions out there who are living their lives and making life changing and unfortunately for this man life ending decisions based on bad theology. As time goes by it seems there is more and more heretical teaching that is finding its way into the church. God is never going to give anyone a revelation that says they can walk on water, nor is He going to give anyone a revelation of any kind other than what is found in and founded upon the Word of God.

There has never been a greater time when people needed to be in good solid Bible preaching and teaching churches. You need to make sure that is where your family worships each Lords day. It does matter where you go to church and it does matter what you believe , and yes, doctrine is incredibly important. Right doctrine would have kept this man from ever attempting such an incredibly foolish and blasphemous action. If he understood that God is out for God he never would have believed that he had a revelation from God to do something that would have exalted himself. He could have had a revelation, but it was not from God!
