SSHHHH! ITS A LIBRARY, WE DO NOT WANT TO DISTURB THE MAN LOOKING AT PORN!

In accordance with keeping our Public Libraries a safe place for kids,(sarcasm), I give you this from the wires;

"The Sacramento Public Library Authority Board has decided against protecting library users from explicit pornography, a move lawyers at the Pacific Justice Institute had asked them to take, and which may, in fact, violate the library's own Internet guidelines. The present policy is to require filters on the computers," Brad Dacus, chief of the PJI, told WND. "However, all that is needed to have access to pornography is for an adult to request that the filters be removed."

Incredibly, in a place that children tend to frequent regularly, anyone can ask for and have the filter removed from the computers, and look at pornography. Let us try to add this up, who is it that would be in a Library looking at pornography? Answer, perverts. What type of pervert would be in a Library looking at online pornography? Pedophiles. Add to this the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children reports that one in five children is sexually solicited online at some point, and you have the mother of all ignorant, evil decisions.

Where are the sane people of the world? How can adults with functioning minds come to a decision like this, putting children at risk? It would take too long and too many blogs to answer that question. But it is enough for us at this blog to let you know of events like these so you will be better able to protect your children. It has been awhile since you could simply drop your children off at the library and not have to worry about what they might see. Most reading this blog understand the homosexual indoctrination that is available in books like "My Two Mommies". But now it seems the best decision is to avoid libraries all together. Some might call that extreme, but it takes only once for your child to be exposed to some pornographic image that some pervert is looking at, for them to be affected in ways that could alter the rest of their lives!

WHAT MAKES OUR COUNTRY GREAT, AND WHAT EMBARASSES IT!

It is my privilege each Monday on my radio show to have the opportunity to interview one of our fine soldiers serving in Iraq. The brave men and women I have interviewed are from the 399th serving in Tikrit Iraq. They work in the medical division giving urgent medical care to those who have been wounded in battle. The remarkable thing is that they give medical attention to all who come in, even their enemies! If an enemy combatant shows up in their area they give them the same care and attention as they would their own. As one soldier told me on the air, " I hope this will show them we are different". Well is absolutely does. There is no greater example of the difference between our great country and the enemy we fight. Do you believe that if one of our soldiers ended up in the enemies medical units that they would receive the same care, or any care at all? To be sure they would be swiftly tortured and killed. But that is not us, we give medical attention to all who show up, that is America, and that is what sets us apart.These interviews are also a great reminder to us all of the human element of this war. You can to my website www.engagingyourworld.com to see pictures of the soldiers we interview each week.

Speaking to these heroes each week reminds me all the more how treasonous it is that the Senate would seek a non-binding vote to display their disapproval of the Commander in Chiefs decision to add more troops. This after the General who would be in charge in Iraq told them directly that such a vote would encourage the enemy. How sad that politicians would not be able to see beyond themselves and would actually do something that could embolden and encourage the enemy, and put the brave men and women of our military at risk. We see what is great about our country and what is not. The greatness is displayed in our soldiers serving and following their mission even if it means giving medical care to the enemies, while the worst is seen in the treasonous act of arrogant men and women who make up the Senate voting like cowards on a non-binding resolution of disapproval, knowing it will aid the enemy!

It is the best of times, it is the worst of times.

DOES THEIR FAITH MATTER?

It seems like each election cycle begins earlier and earlier. The 20008 presidential election has already begun at an unprecedented pace. One of the major issues of discussion appears to be a candidates faith or lack of. Barak Obama has been the target of political attack concerning the possibility of his attending a Muslim school that might have been a training ground for future terrorists. The speculation is that this comes from the Clinton machine. Whomever is behind it, the charge seems to be ridiculous. Unless you could find something more recent than a couple of early elementary school years as evidence, then you can file the charge under cheap and dirty. But the subject of faith is a very relevant discussion.

A persons faith, what he or she believes in and holds dear is of the utmost importance. I would advocate that there might not be anything more important than that in considering a candidate. If there is a true faith, then there will be an answering and submission to a greater being in that candidates life. I believe the American people should look closely at what the candidates faith teaches, and calls for day to day. For example, would the candidate be able to lead as Commander in Chief, given their faith? Would the candidate lean towards favoring certain ideologies of other countries , given their faith? How would the candidate view Gods creation and life under their belief system? What is their view of the marketplace and the poor and on and on we can go, but to be sure one of the most important thing about a candidate is what their faith teaches.

Now if a candidate would represent that their faith does not play a role in how they would govern, then that would seem to me to be a greater problem.. I would hold suspect, and have trouble respecting someone who proclaims a true faith, but promises not to follow that which he or she claims to believe in. As we head into these presidential elections, listen closely to the answers concerning their faith, as that subject will give you the best picture of who you might want, or not want to vote for!

WOULD YOU BUY THIS MAN A HOOKER?

Nick Wallis is a 22 year old who was born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. People afflicted with this disease usually die by their thirties. He is being cared for by Douglas House hospice in Oxford, a Christian foundation in England. Mr. Wallis decided that he wanted to experience sexual intercourse, so with the blessing of Sister Frances Dominica from the hospice, he hired a prostitute to come visit. Upon her arrival his parents left and he received what he paid for, an event that he later would call "emotionally unfulfilling".

What is interesting about this is the fact that Hospice claims to have counseled with professionals and even clergy! What clergy would give the go ahead to hiring a prostitute? This event displays the idolatry that sex has become. To many so called "professionals" the most important thing for Mr. Wallis was to be able to have sex before he died. The sad thing is that probably some reading this blog would agree at some level. Has anyone considered the tragedy that is a woman living in such a way that she would agree to come have sex with a man, disabled or not, for money? Is there any consideration of that being someone's daughter? How is it that "professionals" can condone the use and abuse of a woman created in Gods image for the sake of a disabled man being able to have sex?

The fact that a man is disabled and might not live very long is sad. But the goal, at least for the "clergy" consulted should be his eternal state. The most important thing for Nick Wallis is will he be ready to stand before God when he does die. Getting ready to die is not a call to hire a prostitute. It is a call to receive the Lord Jesus Christ who forgives prostitutes and even those who exploit them!

NEED A PLACE TO STAY FOR AWHILE? USE A BAD WORD!

The television star Isaiah Washington last week at the Golden Globes denied using the slur, "faggot" to describe one of his co-stars. Not a good word, and certainly not a word to be used to describe any human being. But the outcry and the consequence of his denial and the use of the word even in the press conference has been incredible. From the wires;

"ET has confirmed that embattled "Grey's Anatomy" star ISAIAH WASHINGTON has begun counseling for an anti-gay slur he made during last week's Golden Globes awards and on the set of his hit ABC show."

The amazing thing about this is that it is residential treatment! Meaning he is going to check in and live somewhere in order to deal with the issues that would lead him to use such a word. Now while I certainly do not approve of the use of such a word, the remedy seems to be out of portion to the offense. Residential treatment? Isn't that normally reserved for those who need to detox from some addiction? This strikes me as either an overboard attempt by the actor to appease those whom he has offended, or it is treatment gone wild. Where does this stop? Will there be treatment centers for those have been offended as well as the offenders? Will there come a day when any mis-spoken word will require treatment in order to see it never happen again?

Now I understand that there could be more going on with Mr. Washington than meets the eye, but the fact that it is being publicized as going into residential treatment due to the use of an insulting world, if true, is political correctness gone mad. And I would then expect to see all of those in the gay and lesbian community who have used very insulting words to describe heterosexuals, to get rooms right alongside Washington!

THANK YOU MR. PRESIDENT!

Regardless of your political persuasion, you have to admire the State of the Union event. It is a time where our system of government is represented and celebrated. All three branches are present, the Executive, the Legislative and the Judicial. It is the Presidents opportunity to address them all as well as a watching nation. The good news is that the ratings for the State of the Union were high. That is a sign that people are interested and involved. I made my 14 year old son come down and watch it all, as it is an historical meeting we get to attend once a year.

The better news in my opinion was the performance of our President. The pundits and critics were expecting a deer in the headlights, lame duck President to show up and pander to all of the special interests. What they got instead was a man with steely confidence who gave one of the best speeches of his lifetime. How could he pull that off, given his tremendously low poll numbers? It is simple, he believes in what he was speaking about. Like him or not, this President is a man of conviction who does what he truly feels is right, regardless of the impact on him politically.

As I listened and watched last night, I was proud to be an American. We still have the best system of government in the world. Ours is still a place where political opponents can gather and unite under the banner of our flag. President Bush, in his demeanor and with the content of his message last night, enabled me to once again feel good about our country. His was a speech of conviction and candor that appealed to what it is that makes us American. As he stated to the Congress, they did not vote for us to fail, and as Americans we do not live to fail, nor to see others fail. Well done Mr. President!

WHATS NEXT?

We have arrived! It has happened, a bill has been proposed by Assemblywoman Sally Lieber, a San Jose Democrat who has no children, to criminalize the spanking of children. Under the guise of not wanting children to be beaten, something everyone agrees with, and something the law already takes care of, Lieber is proposing something that could land good parents in jail! This is just another step down the slippery slope of government intervention into our lives. People like Lieber actually believe they know better than you how to raise your children. From the curriculum they pick, to the indoctrination of perverted lifestyle, they believe they know best for your child. Welcome to Nazi Germany!

Bills like this one will appeal to the pacifists among us who believe there is never a place for pain. That what you need to do is talk and reason with people. You will have as much success talking and reasoning with a two year old as you will a radical Islamist. Neither one are willing to listen or be reasonable. There is a time when the best thing to be done is to spank a child. There are times when that is all they will understand. It is what God calls for, therefore it is the most loving thing a parent can do when needed. Today that is seen as abuse in many liberal circles.

I know this, I have been in ministry for close to 17 years now, and have had the opportunity to watch those parents who believe in true biblical discipline, which at times calls for spanking, and I have seen those parents who are more permissive and do not believe in biblical discipline. And what you see time and time again, is that the parents who discipline biblically have children who love and respect them,while those who parent permissively often have children who rebel, do not respect their parents and are out of control.

So the choice is coming soon for you moms and dad. How will you raise your children? The way the government tells you or the way God instructs you in His Word? The choice should be obvious!

HOW IS YOUR DAY GOING?

From the wires;
"Researchers in England, citing unpaid holiday bills, rotten weather and people's realization that they likely won't live up to their New Year's resolutions, say Jan. 22 is the unhappiest day of 2007.Cliff Arnall, a Cardiff University psychologist, devised the depressing formula.His equation takes into account six factors: weather, debt, time since Christmas, time since failing our New Year’s resolutions, low motivational levels and feeling a need to take action.
Taken together, they calculate to equal "Blue Monday."

So there you have it, today is officially to be a sad day for you. The frightening thing is that there will be people who actually will believe this. There will be people using this as a reason and rationalization for a host of behaviors. It is reports and studies like this that make you glad you are a follower of Christ. We have the Word of God that instructs us that Gods mercies are new everyday, regardless of the current studies. Things like this also display the marked contrast between the life of faith and the life apart from it. Ours is a faith that goes beyond sight, circumstance and even things like "Blue Monday". So for those in Christ today, have a great day! And for those apart from Christ, consider today calling upon Him as the forgiver of your sins and the owner of your life. That will definitely turn this day around for you.

HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PAY TO WATCH THIS GIRL GET RAPED?

Here is a new low for movie goers, in a scene for the movie "Hounddog" a character played by 12-year-old actress Dakota Fanning reportedly is violently raped. This is shown on the screen! There are too many questions to list in one blog, but here are some of the more pressing ones. Where is Dakotas parents? How in the world could they agree to allow their 12 year old to participate in a rape scene where she is the victim? Where are the police? Without a doubt this is a crime, and the Wilmington North Carolina Police, where the film was shot, have an obligation to charge some people. The final question is who in the world will go to see this movie? I would hope not many. There would be nothing better than for this movie to be a colossal flop. The American people showed that they have a moral line in the O.J. book fiasco, and it would be a great message if this were handled in the same way. This crosses all lines of decency and should not be seen by anyone.

Alright,more questions, how many sick men will watch this movie and copy cat what they have seen? How many real 12 year old girls will be victims due to this sick movie? Unfortunately this movie has received more publicity than it deserves, but it is important for you to know what is happening, and for sure keep an ear open to the movies your kids will watch. If you hear hounddog and they are not talking about listening to an Elvis song, but going to a movie, it is time to step in and save them from seeing things that will trouble them forever!

COWARDS!

The Senate has introduced a resolution disapproving of the Presidents plan of adding more troops to the theatre in Iraq. A resolution brought in cowardice and in my mind treasonous in a time of war. The founders of our country in developing three branches of government, knew what they were doing. The Commander in Chief, is just that and has the power to lead in a time of war. The following makes interesting reading from the wires;

"Supreme Court has long ruled, in such cases as United States v. Klein (1872) and United States v. Lovett (1946), that Congress cannot attach unconstitutional conditions to otherwise proper legislation, including spending bills. As explained by Professor Walter Dellinger -- President Bill Clinton's chief constitutional lawyer at the Justice Department -- "[b]road as Congress' spending power undoubtedly is, it is clear that Congress may not deploy it to accomplish unconstitutional ends." This includes restricting the president's authority as commander in chief to direct the movement of U.S. armed forces. In that regard, Dellinger quoted Justice Robert Jackson -- who said while serving as President Franklin Roosevelt's attorney general: "The President's responsibility as Commander-in-Chief embraces the authority to command and direct the armed forces in their immediate movements and operations, designed to protect the security and effectuate the defense of the United States."

In other words the Congress has two options, number one, if they disapprove of the war and believe it to be a losing cause they can withdraw funding and thus create a situation where the troops would ultimately have to come home. Option two is to be quiet and support their President in this time of war. This is why the Senate resolution is an act of cowardice. It is weak politicians posturing and pandering without wanting to be accountable. If these pols truly believe the war is wrong and we are in a bad way, then pull the funding, and be accountable to the American people for the consequence. That will not happen as it would call for accountability, to which they are allergic!

If they are not willing to do that, which is within their right, then they need to be quiet. Agree or not with our President, he is the Commander in Chief and we are in a war that is unlike any we have had to fight, and one that will not end in our lifetime. It is easy to sit back and criticize and yell "wrong, wrong, awful, we need peace etc...", it is quite another to live in the real world where every day there are terrorists around the world seeking to destroy the country you are called to lead. So, to the Congress I say, put up or shut up! If you do not have it within you to do what would hold you to account for your decision, be quiet!

PLACE YOUR HAND ON THE QURAN?

As the war against the "kuffar" ie., "unbeliever", continues from the Muslim community, we see that the North Carolina appeals court has re-opened the lawsuit brought by a Muslim woman and of course the ACLU, to give her the option to swear on the Quran instead of the Bible. I hate to beat a dead horse, but this horse is not dead, in fact it is alive and kicking. These assaults on our country and its history are to be taken with the utmost seriousness. Understand, the goal is not being hidden by these people. Just a few years ago Omar M. Ahmad, chairman of the board of the Council on American-Islamic relations, had this to say in a speech;

"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant, he said. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth, he said."

The best answer for the Muslim is the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ, that they can be loved by God through Christ. This is the message that must be given,and is,all around the world at great cost. But we also need to be diligent and vigilant in the defense of our country and the freedoms so many have bled and died for us to have. Muslims are not interested in democracy, they want the Quran to be the law of the land. They follow a belief system that sees women as inferior, Jews as pigs and Christians as enemies to be eliminated by whatever means possible. They are infiltrating our government with their public lies, that their belief system encourages in the fight to progress their agenda.

Ours is a time for great courage, counting on the Lord Jesus Christ, as we seek to speak the truth for His glory. To be sure this war will come to your town, sooner than later. That Mosque you see being built near you should not be a cause for joy and community outreach, but rather should make you keenly aware of the battle that is now upon you. That Mosque, to be sure is founded on teachings and writings that call either for your conversion or your death. The good news for the believers in Christ is that we know to live is Christ and to die for us, gain!

ISRAEL AS OCCUPIER?

One would have to be asleep at the wheel or the most naive person ever created to not understand the attack on the world that is being waged by Muslims. It ranges from suicide bombers to propaganda designed to change the mindset of the world. A good example of the effect of this war is seen today from the wires;

"While Jerusalem serves as Israel's capital, and the Temple Mount is located within Israeli sovereignty, the popular satellite map program Google Earth divides the city and places the Mount Judaism's holiest site within Palestinian territory. Google Earth is reinforcing lies," Rabbi Chaim Rechman, director of the international department. "The Muslims have engaged in a systemic campaign to re-write history and erase any traces of Judaism from the Temple Mount in total disregard to all actual archeological and historic evidence," he continued." Now Google Earth has given in to this campaign."

Here is the problem, people are not astute enough in their history to differentiate fact from fiction. Therefore the Muslim propaganda machine rolls on unnoticed, re-writing history. To the point of even wanting to deny the existence of the holocaust. There goals are clear and understandable, the elimination of Israel and then America, and ultimately the world. The saying amongst them is "Saturday first and then Sunday". In other words first we take care of "little satan" Israel and then we will get the "great satan" America.

The dupes like Google and every other entity or individual that play along with their lies and believe there is a rational discussion to be had, are simply enabling their agenda. The goal they have and are furthering is conquering the world in the name of Allah! Apart from being opposed in the way they respect and understand, their conquest will continue!

THE POWER TO CONTROL THE TONGUE, AT THE CROSS!

I have been following a dialog between John Piper and some others concerning Piper's use of a profanity in his discussion with some students at the Passion 07 conference. Piper in trying to make the point that God will deal with us said that sometimes God kicks our a--! To his credit and with humility Piper has apologized for his use of language. I am a huge fan of John Piper and have admired him from afar as well as up close. I also admire how quick he is to acknowledge his weakness and shortcomings. The issue of foul language is a relevant one to our church culture as it has become in vogue for preachers to use foul language to make their points. Does it matter? Is it important how we speak? Wayne Grudem has emailed John Piper concerning his apology. Grudem encourages him in his need to apologize and congratulates him for it, but he also gives good scriptural references that speak to our need to speak with the glory of God in mind. From Grudems email;

ESV Titus 2:10 not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.
ESV Ephesians 5:4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.
ESV Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
ESV Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things

And then Grudem gives a great comparison as to what foul language can be likened to in our society;

"Using the words commonly thought to be offensive in the culture seems to me to be sort of the verbal equivalent of not wearing deodorant and having body odor, or of going around with spilled food on our shirts all the time. Someone might argue that not wearing deodorant or wearing dirty clothes are not morally wrong things in themselves, but my response is that they do give needless offense and cause others to think of us as somewhat impure or unclean. So, I think, does using words commonly thought to be "obscene" or "offensive" or "vulgar" in the culture generally. Plus it encourages others to act in the same way. So in that way it brings reproach on the church and the gospel."

I am thankful for the Body of Christ that helps to keep one another in check. I as much as anyone needs to hear these truths about speaking with the glory of God in mind. I need to be reminded to consider Him with every word, and to think of the impact my words might have on the gospel and my witness to and for Him.

ARE YOU A LAZY NEWS CONSUMER?

Pres. Abbas of Palestine made a speech today commemorating the 42nd anniversary of the Fatah party. It has been mildly reported in the news cycles but very few are reporting the reality of what was actually said by Abbas in this speech From the wires:

"Shooting at your brother is forbidden. Raising rifles against the occupation is our legitimate right, but raising guns against each other is forbidden. We should put our internal fighting aside and raise our rifles only against the Israeli occupation....The sons of Israel are mentioned as those who are corrupting humanity on earth,"

This is the leader that has been an invited guest to the White House under the auspices of peace. He has said that he wants peace with Israel, a blatant lie that is in accord with the position of saying anything as long as it promotes your agenda. The bigger question is why are there not any major news outlets covering the inflammatory parts of Abass's speech? Where is the journalistic integrity that once was the rule in the media?

This is another example of how biased and jaded the media has become. If you want the truth you need to search for it. You cannot be a passive news consumer unless you want to be a victim of propaganda who has their views shaped and molded by the puppet masters that are main stream media. It is worth the effort to search through the varying internet sights to find the accurate news stories that are still being put forth. They are becoming few and far between, but it is worth the effort. You know now more than most of the rest of our country concerning this speech by Abbas. He clearly called his people to arms against Israel, he is following the teachings of the Quran that call for the elimination of Israel. That is the truth, so determine today to be a seeker of truth, and not to be a lazy news consumer!

THE PEOPLE SPEAK AGAIN!

We learn today that Mark McGwire did not make it into the Hall of Fame on his first ballot entry. Certainly his numbers were overwhelmingly convincing, but this year it was not the numbers that were considered, but the way they were attained. Due to the belief that he did steroids, the baseball writers did not vote him into the famed hall. I believe this is a great move and the right message to send to the young people who idolize the sport and its athletes. To do anything else would be rewarding cheating. Having said that, the cynical side of me has to wonder how many of these same writers have voted for players that they knew were cheating, but no one else knew? What about those players who regularly take speed, which many are reported to do? How about those pitchers who have been known to doctor up the ball? I am for the tough stance taken by the writers, but like everything else, the stance is only taken once the public is made aware.

Which once again highlights the power people truly have. Too many people believe they have no voice and are powerless, when the opposite is true. Why do you think the legislature decided to vote on the marriage petition at the last minute? Because too many people were involved, upset, and calling for a vote. You can be sure that there are players in the Hall of Fame who have cheated like Mr. McGwire, but only a few knew about it. He simply got caught in a way that was much too public. So while I applaud the decision, I cannot go so far as to congratulate the writers, as I am not sure they would have been so "strong" if the scandal was not made public. The good news today is that you still matter, and have more power than you think!

AN ANTI HERESY NETWORK? DO WE CALL IT AHN?

Not to beat a dead horse, but in reflecting on yesterday post, I began to consider all of the heretical preachers that are presently on television. It would be tedious to list them all, and painful, but consider some of them. Benny Hinn, Rod Parsley, Creflo Dollar, Jan & Paul Crouch, Jesse Duplantis, etc etc etc... What is amazing is the amount of money that is needed for these people to be on the air. Literally thousands of dollars a day are needed, and for the most part they get it. Have you noticed that there are not very many solid preachers with television ministries? You could probably count them on one hand, if it was a crippled hand missing some fingers!

Why is that? Is it intentional on the part of those who are solid expositors of the Word of God? Or is it that no one has given them the opportunity? I envision a wonderful new network that has a lineup that goes something like this;
Piper, Mohler, Macarthur, Sproul, Dever, Duncan,etc., these could be the leading preachers for the network. At that point you could follow up on the schedule with lesser known but just as solid men of God preaching and teaching the Word of God. Wouldn't it be nice to have a station like this on the air to compete with the heretical networks? If Robert Tilton can still be on the air, there has to be a way to get this done.

So here is the plan, if you are interested in a network such as this and would like to invest or simply give input, reach me through the website given below my name, or write me at;

HE'S BACK!

Here he goes again! It is a new year which means that Pat Robertson is doing his usual, "let me make a fool of myself" act. Once again the "prophet" Pat has made a prediction for the coming year. This one concerns a massive death of millions that he is not sure is nuclear but could be. Pat last year predicted a tsunami would hit our country, which of course it did not, but he points to all the rain that New England received, as a partial fulfillment. If Pat were held to the biblical standard for prophets he would not have made many, as he would be dead from stoning from his first wrong prediction. Unfortunately for Pat and his followers he is wrong a lot.

Pat Robertson, might be well intentioned, which means at best he is a well intentioned fool. It is amazing the number of people who will watch his shows and send him money. He gives credence to our description as sheep. Sheep are dumb and clueless and apart from a good faithful shepherd to watch over them they are prone to wander off and follow anything or anyone. So be sure you are in a good church and under a good undershepherd to the great Shepherd. Be well nourished, so you do not wander off and follow those who would in the name of Christ seek to separate you from your wallet.

As far as Pat Robertson, fortunately these days he gets only one or two days of press for his foolishness. Even the story hungry press have realized he is not much of a story any longer , and for that we can all be grateful! A great resolution for this and every new year to come, less of Pat.

SCORE ONE FOR THE GOOD GUYS!

In an unbelievable turn of events that can only be attributed to the hand of the Lord, the Massachusetts legislature actually performed their Constitutional duty and voted on the petition to vote on a definition of marriage on the ballot of 2008. And 62 legislators, 12 more than needed, voted to proceed to the next convention. This means that there is only one more vote of the legislature needed to have this be on the ballot for 2008. A pleasantly surprising turn of events. One of the great things about the vote taking place was that it forced the politicians to declare their votes. Some of them who stated they were in favor of the petition moving forward were shown to be bold faced liars as their no vote indicated. Some of them will pay for their deceit by forfeiting their seats next time around. But the good news is that in defiance of a rogue Governor-Elect, Deval Patrick, who amazingly, publicly declared yesterday that he wanted the constitution ignored, the pols did the right thing. On another note, Mr. Patrick in his statement yesterday, puts himself in an interesting situation as he is about to swear to uphold the constitution that he is on record as wanting to ignore. Seems to be a conflict of interest, that if he goes through with his oath, could even be deemed as perjury by some.

What we learn from all of this is that it is important to do the right thing. To stand for God and His Word and leave the results to Him. This battle is not over, but it still goes on. To be frank, I did not believe I would be writing today about the petition proceeding to the next step. I was certain that I would blog about the end of democracy in the State of Massachusetts. While I am not naive enough to believe there will not be some underhanded tricks to try to thwart this effort, I am joyfully reminded that we walk by faith and not by sight. That our job is to do the right thing, for His glory, and know the results are His business. Onward Christian soldiers!

A GREAT BROTHER WENT HOME!

Yesterday brought in another year, 2007. And yesterday also brought home a dear friend of mine. Bob Croke was a great brother in the Lord. He was a simple man, a worker. If you needed something done Bob wanted to do it. When the church had an event Bob was there to serve and he particularly enjoyed the cleaning up ministry. How many people do you know who have a passion to help clean up or grill the hamburgers? What does it say about someone when their passion is to be behind the scenes doing the dirty work? This was Bob Croke. As he died the things that were his comfort were the Word of God and hymns. He loves to hear Gods Word spoken and sung. He was a great dad and a wonderful husband and he was a great brother to the body of Christ. He will be greatly missed by this pastor and so many others.

When I think of Bob I think of a man who was simply a Christian. He loved Jesus and he followed him. Praise God that as the new year came in yesterday, Bobs faith became sight! Bob, I love you brother and already miss you a lot. See you soon!
