WOULD YOU BUY THIS MAN A HOOKER?

Nick Wallis is a 22 year old who was born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. People afflicted with this disease usually die by their thirties. He is being cared for by Douglas House hospice in Oxford, a Christian foundation in England. Mr. Wallis decided that he wanted to experience sexual intercourse, so with the blessing of Sister Frances Dominica from the hospice, he hired a prostitute to come visit. Upon her arrival his parents left and he received what he paid for, an event that he later would call "emotionally unfulfilling".

What is interesting about this is the fact that Hospice claims to have counseled with professionals and even clergy! What clergy would give the go ahead to hiring a prostitute? This event displays the idolatry that sex has become. To many so called "professionals" the most important thing for Mr. Wallis was to be able to have sex before he died. The sad thing is that probably some reading this blog would agree at some level. Has anyone considered the tragedy that is a woman living in such a way that she would agree to come have sex with a man, disabled or not, for money? Is there any consideration of that being someone's daughter? How is it that "professionals" can condone the use and abuse of a woman created in Gods image for the sake of a disabled man being able to have sex?

The fact that a man is disabled and might not live very long is sad. But the goal, at least for the "clergy" consulted should be his eternal state. The most important thing for Nick Wallis is will he be ready to stand before God when he does die. Getting ready to die is not a call to hire a prostitute. It is a call to receive the Lord Jesus Christ who forgives prostitutes and even those who exploit them!

blog you later,
