Monday night in Charleston South Carolina firefighters went to fight a fire at a furniture store. It is what they do, day in and day out, go into places where people are running away from. It is the noblest of professions that takes a certain type of person with a certain gifting from God. Not everyone can handle the pressure, danger, or the physical demands. Monday night was another opportunity for all of these elements to converge again, as they had many times before. Except that Monday night, nine of these heroes lost their lives! While I am sure they were all aware of the danger involved, I am also sure that there minds were not on entering eternity that night. It is not hard to imagine that they were focused on the task ahead of them, not on leaving earth that night.

We do not know the time of our departure of this life, but we do know that it is going to happen. From time to time we are reminded by the death of a loved one,or a tragic event like this one. I would encourage you to check your heart as you read this blog. Are you ready to leave this earth and stand in front of God? Is Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior? These nine men did not wake up Monday morning understanding that this would be the last day for them. If they had, you can be sure they, like all of us, would have done things differently. Are you ready, if today is your day?

Pray for the families of these nine heroes, that God would pour out His grace and mercy on them all. Pray that God would use this tragedy to bring people to love Jesus Christ. Pray that the sacrifice of these nine would lead people to know and receive the gift of the ultimate sacrifice, Jesus Christ!

blog you later,
