While not falling under the term "Emergent", this is a great example of it from the wires;

"I am both Muslim and Christian, just like I'm both an American of African descent and a woman. I'm 100 percent both," Rev. Ann Holmes Redding told the Seattle Times"

A convergence of the Muslim and Christian faith in the line of Brian McClarens statement of wanting people to be "Muslim Christians." A woman Pastor, which is a convolution and disobeying of the Word of God which after all we should all be questioning, in the line of McClaren and Rob Bells encouragement.

"Redding, 55, doesn't think it's necessary to resolve all of the contradictions, arguing even people within Christianity can't agree on all the details.
"So why would I spend time to try to reconcile all of Christian belief with all of Islam?" she asked. "At the most basic level, I understand the two religions to be compatible. That's all I need."

While I will not go into all of the reasons that you cannot combine the Muslim and Christian faiths, I do think it is worth noting this occurrence as it is the direction of not only the liberal church, but unfortunately due to the influence of people like McClaren and Bell, the evangelical church as well. If we do not go back to and hold to the Word of God as inerrant and authoritative, we will end up with more and more churches that are under the leadership of people like Redding. Emergent fans take note and be warned, it is a short step to where she has landed!
