Bill Barnes is a 72 year old senior citizen. He was minding his own business at a convenience store when Jesse Daniel Rae, a 27 year old attempted to pick his pocket. It is a common occurrence in this day and age. Young people do not respect the elderly, in fact they make sport of them. Recently there have been stories of elderly being beaten and made sport of. It is a sad comment on our culture as we are one of the few that do not treat our elderly with respect and care. Most other cultures have a reverence for those with white hair. Gods Word describes grey hair as a crown of glory. But not to many of the young people in our country.

As Rae attempted to rob 72 year old Barnes of the $300.00 he had in his pocket, he had badly miscalculated. Barnes is a former Marine who has not lost much in his old age. He is a former Gold Gloves Boxer as well as a retired iron worker. The account of what happened, from the wires;

"Barnes immediately grabbed the person's wrist with his left hand and started throwing punches with his right, landing six or seven blows before a store manager intervened. There was blood everywhere.

"I guess he thought I was an easy mark," Barnes, 72, told The Grand Rapids Press for a story Tuesday."

Young people take note, respect your elders, treat them as God instructs you to in His Word. And of course, you ignore this instruction at your own peril. Score one for the old guys!
