From time to time we get glimpses of Christlike behavior from people. We all are aware, or should be of the miners who have been trapped in the mine in Utah. Much of the country has been riveted on this story, waiting, watching, praying that this would be an outcome of joy for the families involved. As the days go by, the hope diminishes as each moment is precious. The amazing thing about all of this is the men who have gone in to try to rescue their brothers. Knowing the peril, they have gone into the deep recesses trying to get to them before all hope is lost.

The unthinkable happened yesterday as the men who went down to rescue have themselves become victims. In the midst of their working down into the mine, there was another cave in that tragically killed three and injured six more. These rescuers were very aware of the danger and even had commented on the tenuous situation of this particular mine. In spite of that, they showed up and without hesitation went into the mouth of the lion, willing to give their lives for the lives of others.

This is a great picture of the Lord Jesus Christ who went to the cross for others. Who gave his life in a horrific brutal death by crucifixion for all of those who would receive Him as their Lord and Savior. While you pray for the families of those who have lost loved ones in this tragedy and marvel at the heroic sacrifice, take some time to also marvel at the greatest sacrifice in the history of man. Jesus Christ, crucified, buried, risen, all according to the Scriptures!
