Engaging Your World

I had planned on blogging today of the glory that is Reformation Day, but as it has been said, 'the best laid plans...'. Pre-empting that topic is the University of Delaware and a program all students are required to take part in, in fact the word is students are "mandated" to take part. Here is a sampling of the indoctrination that is taking place, from the Office of Residence Life Diversity Education Training documents;:

"A RACIST: A racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. 'The term applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality. By this definition, people of color cannot be racists, because as peoples within the U.S. system, they do not have the power to back up their prejudices, hostilities, or acts of discrimination….'"

According to a civil rights group,students are offered "treatment" for any incorrect attitudes regarding class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality they might hold upon entering the school. This is an amazing dose of reality. For all that want to look the other way, or even advocate the tolerance of all views, regardless of the morality, here is the result. Understand that for students who are residents, they have no choice, other than going to court, or leaving school. imagine the following, you have a freshman student who comes to school with the usual insecurities, leaving home, friends, relationships that he or she has known for all of life. These are seasons of life where people are at their most vulnerable to make wrong decisions or fall into the wrong group. For most students they will grab onto some of the first relationships that become available. Now factor in the Residence leader with their authority, and the mandate to fall in line with this indoctrination. The numbers who will fall prey to this and have it color their studies as well as their adult lives, both professional and private are frightening to consider.

All is not lost though as there are not only organizations, but some students who are standing up and fighting back, here is one students statement;

"Take the issue of homosexuality, and the rights that should or should not be associated with it. As a Christian, I believe that the Bible says homosexuality is wrong, and is a sin against God. As such, I cannot accept it as a legitimate lifestyle. While I accept homosexuals as people, I do not accept their choice as right, and subsequently I do not think that homosexual couples should be given marital rights. I accept that others do not hold the same views as me. But it is wrong that under the Residence Life curriculum and school mandated curriculum that I should made to feel guilty for my views. … It is not the school's right to try to convince me to embrace the values that Residence Life has chosen. Essentially, if I do not change my views, I will be labeled by my RA as not embracing diversity, and not accepting of certain groups, and thus my RA will try all the harder to change me. This is not the school's job, or right."

Well said by a student, and not without courage, Mom and Dad, it is time for us to show the same!

There is a troubling trend happening with Halloween costumes. I will leave the discussion of Halloween as a holiday and the pros and cons of that to another blog at another time. What is relevant in my mind is the costumes that are gaining popularity. I saw a report on Fox News today that indicated an increase in certain types of costumes among young girls under twelve years old. It seems as if these girls are dressing up in provocative sex driven cothing, with fish net stockings and other sexually enticing apparel. How in the world a parent could ever allow their daughters to dress up like this is beyond me. Do they not know that pedophiles are everywhere looking for these exact situations?

I am always surprised in this day and age parents would ever allow their children to go to any strangers house and knock on the door. But this takes the cake, to put their children in such clothes is criminal in my mind. It is teaching young girls that your worth is in your ability to draw attention to your looks. It is tearing down the walls of decency and propiety in dress. Yet is it exactly what is happening as the leading costumes for this age group are the provacative ones. While I am not a proponent of the goverment telling private citizens how to live their lives, it is situations like this that make that seem like not such a bad idea after all. Althought the government is not exactly a paragon of virtue itself. Moms and Dads please pay attenton to these details. Understand that there are real people out there looking to prey on your children. What you might think is cute, a pedophile might use as the trigger to move in on your child!

James Hahn, a chemist from North Houston found himself in a situation that many others in his neighborhood had endured. His home was foreclosed on, something that is not unique to his neighborhood but in fact is an ever increasing reality across our country. People who have overspent and lived above their means, or who lived within their means, but lost employment, have seen their homes go the way of foreclosure. Hahn was different in his reaction as he boarded himself up in his foreclosed home and would not come out. While it made for a tense situation, seeing he knew chemicals and how to use them for harm, the police were confidetnt of a peaceful end. What happened was tragically Hahn eventually put a bullet in his head, taking his own life. With his personal life in shambles and now losing his home it was beyond what he could bare. He was known to be divorced,depressed and addicted to drugs.

What drives someone to this point? A variety of things in life can do that if you are not grounded and founded in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus promised to give a peace that was unlike the world and that the world would not understand. A peace that sees beyond the real trouble that might be the current state of ones life and sees the hand of a loving Father who controls all, and promises that everything is for His glory and the good of his people. James Hahn carried to the logical conclusion the reality of life without Christ. Apart from Him it is hopeless, as all that awaits is a forever Hell and life right now is as good as it gets considering what eternity will bring. The answer is always Jesus Christ. Regardless of what you are going through today, He is the answer! Submit your life to Him before it is too late!

There is not much I have seen or heard that is lower and more heinous than the activities of Fred Phelps and his family driven "church" in Topeka Kansas. These people are the ones that sadly hold up the God Hates Fags signs and also they show up at funerals of military men and women to protest and hold up their signs of hate. Well one parent had enough and has taken them to court. From the wires;

"The family of a Marine killed in Iraq has sued a Baptist church for picketing their son's funeral and is turning to the Internet to drum up support.
Albert Snyder, the father of fallen Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, took the stand this week in the Baltimore trial against the Westboro Baptist Church and testified that protesters waving signs at Matthew's burial made him nauseous. He'd wanted a private service for his son.

"They turned this funeral into a media circus and they wanted to hurt my family," Snyder said on the stand Wednesday. "They wanted their message heard and they didn't care who they stepped over. My son should have been buried with dignity, not with a bunch of clowns outside."

The Snyder family's suit against the church — whose members have picketed the funerals of military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, claiming the deaths are punishment for the country's tolerance of homosexuality — could cost close to $100,000, the law firm representing them said. That's why Albert Snyder is asking for the community's help on the Web site www.matthewsnyder.org.

I interviewed Phelps daughter Shirley on the radio some time ago and pointed out to her that she cannot be a follower of Christ and hate the way she does. I told her that she could not have the Holy Spirit in her and treat people, particularly homosexuals and military the way she does. For that she called me "sodomite faginator". It is hard to deal with such depravity, but that is what we are called to do. The ones that need the prayer most are the Fred Phelps of the world who, although they are not true followers of Christ, they give us a bad name. One can only hope that he loses the court case and it costs him enough to put him and his troubled band of followers out of business. The sooner we no longer see God hates fags signs, the sooner we no longer see such hateful signs at military funerals, or anywhere for that matter, the better!

Results are in from a recent survey and here they are from the wires:

"We're stressed out, we can't sleep, we're drinking too much - and it's getting worse.
Forty-eight percent of Americans say they're more stressed now than they were five years ago, and the same percent report regularly lying awake at night because of stress, according to a new study by the American Psychological Association.
"The high stress levels that many Americans report experiencing can have long-term health consequences, ranging from fatigue to obesity and heart disease," Newman said.
The study found that as a result of stress, 54 percent of people have fought with loved ones, and 8 percent say stress has led to separation or divorce.
More than three-quarters of respondents say stress is making them sick, from headaches (44 percent) to upset stomach (34 percent) and grinding their teeth (17 percent)."

It would be interesting if the survey indicated if any of the respondents were followers of Christ. As following Him should make a difference in these exact areas. While life is not any less stressful, and in fact at times it is more for a believer in Christ, there should be a difference in how we handle it. The Word of God tells us to cast all of our cares on him for He cares for us. We are also told that He gives us a peace that the world cannot understand. These are some of the absolute truths that are promised for His children. If Christ is your Savior and you find yourself indentifying more with the results of the survey and less with the truth of the Word of God, it is time to take inventory of your walk with the Lord. Have you been spending time with Him in the Word and Prayer? Are you in fellowship with a local Bible preaching church? Is there some unconfessed sin in your life?

Take stock of these areas of your life as God would have His children able to take a survey like the one above and in spite of circumstance and because of their faith in Him, be able to honestly say that there is a peace and contentment beyond explanation!

I guess it was only a matter of time but it still amazes me, and I also know I have said I could not be amazed, but here I am. There is an ad that is running in Italy that shows a nerwborn with a band on the wrist that reads "Homosexual"! This from the wires;

"Sexual orientation is not a choice," reads the slogan on the poster that was going up all across the central-northern Tuscany region and was published in national newspapers Wednesday.
Italy's main gay rights association ArciGay, for its part, praised the initiative, saying homosexuality is an "unchangeable fact that should be respected."

The power of marketing should not be under estimated. There will be people who will claim that people are born homosexual based on this ad. Unfortunately not many people take the time to primary source the headlines, sound bites, and ads they are bombarded with. And as unfortunate, is they give them automatic credibility. If it is on television, radio, or in the news it must be true. While there has been some outcry it will, like all outcry, die down and people will accept the ad regardless of the consequence to their society. This is what the homosexual movement has always counted on and for the most part, they have been right.

Parents are facing a daunting task in trying to protect their children from the onslaught of homosexuals. To be sure they are out to indoctrinate your children, I have said, preached, and written that over and over. If you do not believe this to be true you are ignoring and in my opinion, derelict in your duty as a parent. Ads on billboards say babies are born homosexual, it seems every television show and movie has a homosexual character shown in a positive light, and tragically there are those who profess Christ as their Savior who are now saying it does not matter all that much. It does matter it always has, at least to God and the good news is the answer is Jesus Christ who died to pay for all sins, including the sin of homosexuality.

But if it is no longer seen as a sin, then there is no need for a Savior. Which means homosexuals by the thousands are not receiving a gospel message, as tragically some of Gods people are not loving enough, nor possessing the courage to share that life changing message. How about you?

We are within a few months of the first primaries for the candidates for President of the United States. The stakes have never been higher. The next President will have to deal with the war in Iraq, the ever increasing threat from Iran and its madman leader, and then there is the issue of nominating Supreme Court Justices that could shape the direction of our country for years to come. While it is clear that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratice nominee, barring some political disaster. It is not as clear who the nominee for the Republican party will be. What is happening is a groundswell of momentum for Mike Huckabee former Governor of Arkansas. While most of the rest of the candidates are trying to manuever themselves to become what it is that they believe the voters want them to be, Huckabee is comfortable with who he is and does not appear to feel the need to change for poll results.

Huckabee is a refreshing brand of politician who truly appears to be who he says he is. Jonathan Alter of Newsweek has wrriten about the phenomenon that is the Huckabee candidacy. Here is some of what we writes;

"Huckabee comes across more hopeful than Giuliani, more believable than Romney, more intelligent than Thompson and fresher than McCain. He would hold the base and capture moderates drawn to his down-home style. His greatest asset is that he alone among the Republicans "speaks American." He connects to his audience with stories and metaphors and a geniality that can't be faked. "I'm conservative but I'm not angry about it," he likes to say, and it's true; his gentle mocking of the intraparty warfare that broke out during the Fox debate—likening it to a "demolition derby"—confirms the point. This was Reagan's secret, and it worked for Huckabee in Arkansas, where he won the votes of independents and Democrats.

The stridency of today's GOP has blinded the party to the context of this election, which is Bush fatigue. No wonder all the Democrats are using some variation of the line "The era of cowboy diplomacy is over." It is. And the least cowboyish and bombastic Republican will have the best chance a year from now to win the White House. That's Mike Huckabee."

Strong words that indicate Huckabee is making an impact. Every debate that goes by he gains ground as he shines in the midst of the beauty contest that are the debates. As the field narrows, his positions will become more evident and open to more and more scrutiny. That seems to be a good thing as his positions are mainstream conservative positions that actually fit the definition of compassionate conservative. Huckabeee reminds one of another southern Governor who was given no chance, but whose steady folsky honest demeanor ultimately won him the Presidency. Hopefully if Huckabee follows the same road to the White House as Jimmy Carter he will perform his job far better. Whatever happens Mike Huckabee is a serious candidate, which is good news for all of those looking for a true conservative and bad news for his opponents who want to play the same old trash and smear politics. With this candidate that will be losing strategy!

Bob Kerry former 1992 Presidential candidate has written an op-ed where he advocates that Democrats should appear on Don Imus's radio show when he returns to the air. Kerry mentions Imus aticipated huge audience in tension with the fear of Al Sharpton's wrath for appearing on the show. As Imus returns to the air it will be interesting to see who comes running back to him. Particularly when it comes to those who were so quick to pin the scarlet letter on him and throw him to the wolves. While his statements about Rugters basketball players are without defense, he also did not deserve to become the scapegoat for all that is wrong with culture. As I said then and say now, his apology should have been accepted, and his body of work in and out of radio should also have been considered. With rappers regulary using Imus type words and worse, without penalty, Imus was lynched without a fair hearing.

Now he is back and will most likely have the last laugh. Will he be changed? Will he be toned down? While people are anxious to see, I believe the greater and more telling question is who will come on his show? Which candidates that scorched Imus will now seek to speak to his audience? The trend is already beginning with Kerry's op-ed . He knows that Imus is someone who can bring votes to a candidate and arguably has been able to secure elections for some. And will Imus allow those who have been so critical of him to appear? While he has never defended and always apologized for his remarks, he has been the object of a feeding frenzy from the very same people he has sold books and obtained votes for. Amazingly they all followed the incredibly hypocritical Al Sharpton. Now they might be made to sleep in that bed that they have made! Sweet dreams.

In an amazing decision a school board in Maine has decided that children as young as eleven can receive birth control pills! You did not misread, nor did I make any errors in writing, eleven years old! Sex with a non spousal minor under fourteen is a crime in Maine. Which means we have a school board making provision for criminal behavior that will take place in their school. This is their response to a few children in that district who had become pregnant. Questions come by the dozen with ignorance like this, but let us consider a few.

1. Will the school nurse be mandated to report to the police when they have dispensed birth control to children of this age?

2. Is their parental notification beyond a simple allowance for the child to receive attention from the school nurse?

3. Will it take parental permission?

And the final question for me is;

4. How in the world is this allowed, permitted, and let go without a huge outcry from parents?

Where are the parents? Sure there are a few who have weighed in with wonder at the audacity and ignorance of the school board. But by and large this has not become the clarion call it should be for parents. I am surprised that parents have not pulled their children out of the schools, or those who voted yes to this are not in the process of being impeached. With California passing SB777 and now Maine allowing this, it is surprising that there are any children left in public schools. The harsh reality is that there are parents who have no other option but public school and thus are trapped. One can only hope that at some point parents will realize they are the employers, and as such they will band together and demand more from those who make a living on their tax dollars!

Well it has happened. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed into law SB 777! While that might not ring a bell, the truth is that now the schools in California can see things like the words 'Mom and Dad' as discriminatory towards homosexuals and thus not be able to be used in text books. Here are some reactions from those involved in the battle out in California;

Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families;
"The so-called 'public schools' are no longer a safe emotional environment for children. Under the new law, schoolchildren as young as kindergarten will be sexually indoctrinated and introduced to homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality, over the protests of parents, teachers and even school districts," he said."

Karen England, chief of Capitol Resource Institute,
"Having 'mom' and 'dad' promotes a discriminatory bias. You have to either get rid of 'mom' and 'dad' or include everything when talking about [parental issues]," she said. "They [promoters of sexual alternative lifestyles] do consider that discriminatory."

Ray Moore, a spokesman for Exodus Mandate,
"The pagans are simply obeying their god. You are being irresponsible as a parent to put your child in a public school. There's no stopping this movement. I think they're going to take over the entire system in the next two to five years. I can't predict how fast the virus will run throughout the public school system, but I think it cannot be stopped."

The reality is that text book companies will now have an agenda that they have to meet to sell their product to the lucrative California market. And the other reality is that what happens in California tends to move east over time. Randy Thomasson who is quoted above lists what he believes students will be faced with in the not to distant future as a result of the Governor signing this into law;

"Please turn to Chapter 10, entitled Famous Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people. History tells us that great Americans such as Walt Whitman and Abraham Lincoln were gay and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt was lesbian. It's likely that even prominent biblical personas were gay, such as King David of Israel and the Apostle Paul. Until this year, the sexual identities of these and other historical figures have been denied by discriminatory textbooks that reflected adversely on LGBT people by ignoring their existence."

"Children, our new picture book has arrived. This is a fantastic story called Daddy's Wedding. It teaches us that no relationship is bad. See the two men dressed in tuxedos, like they're at a wedding? Daddy's Wedding tells us that two men can love each other and even get married…"

"Class, for our contemporary social studies' new No-Discriminatory-Bias component, we have a special speaker this afternoon. He will share his amazing story of growing up as a male trapped in a female's body."

"Here in our boys' sex education assembly, you need to know that puberty means growing facial hair, a deeper voice and a growth spurt when you're in junior high. If you're comfortable with those changes, great. But we're required by law to tell you some of you may have a different future. Some of you may feel more comfortable with girls and feel like a girl inside…"

We know enough to understand that this is not some far our speculation but in fact the wave that is coming to shore. The question is as it always has been, when will it be enough? What and where is the line that people will draw and stop apologizing and advocating for the activists that seek to pervert the minds and lives of our children? Time will tell!

David Levy at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands recently completed his Ph.D. work on the subject of human-robot relationships. In this project he has concluded that marriage between humans and robots is something likely to happen within a few decades, and it is no surprise where he thinks this will first occur. From the wires;

"Levy predicts Massachusetts will be the first jurisdiction to legalize human-robot marriage.
"Massachusetts is more liberal than most other jurisdictions in the United States and has been at the forefront of same-sex marriage," Levy said. "There's also a lot of high-tech research there at places like MIT."
At first, sex with robots might be considered geeky, "but once you have a story like 'I had sex with a robot, and it was great!' appear someplace like Cosmo magazine, I'd expect many people to jump on the bandwagon," Levy said."

How much more debased could the God designed covenant of marriage become? It should not surprise us that this is on the horizon. Once the definition of marriage becomes fluid in a society, then all bets are off. Without the absolute of the Word of God guiding, people will inevitably desecrate their society, at times beyond repair. What God has designed to display to the world the glory of the relationship between Christ and His Church, man has perverted and now even mechanized.

This is nothing more than man trying to be God. Believing he can create robots in his own image. The sin is not new, it is as old as the Garden of Eden, and sadly people are still falling for it. The good news is that the answer is still the same and it always works, coming to true saving faith in Jesus Christ. He takes the heart of stone and turns it into a receiving heart of flesh that can worship and adore His name. Lets see man create that!

Rami Ayyad manages the only Christian bookstore in Gaza. In April it was reported that his bookstore, owned by the Palestinian Bible Society, was firebombed in April. At that time he told relatives he had received many death threats from Islamists. You have to admire the courage of a man who will day in and day out work in a ministry that he knows brings great danger to him, and that is what Rami did. He did not back down from the threats, he did not close the bookstore, as a Baptist he believed that people needed to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Rami has a pregnant wife and two other children and they are apart of the 3000 Christians in Gaza which has about one million people in total. As a glaring minority Rami's task was daunting but he trusted in his Lord Jesus Christ and continued to work at the bookstore, not only presenting Christian literature but providing for his young family.

Rami died last weekend. He was brutally beaten, tortured and killed by Islamists, for in their words spreading Christianity. Reports are that he was abducted and his body was found riddled with bullets and stab wounds. From the wires we read;

"..three armed men, two of whom were wearing masks, beat Ayyad repeatedly with clubs and the butts of their guns while they accused him of attempting to spread Christianity in Gaza. The witnesses said that after sustaining the beating, Ayyad was shot by all three men. "

A wife is left pregnant, with two other children to care for and somehow must explain to her children their father is dead. Rami is a martyr for the cause of Christ. Regardless of how many Christians the Islamists kill they will never stop coming and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because unlike Islamists who believe they must kill and even be killed to be accepted by Allah, followers of Christ know that to live is Christ and to die is gain. We do not hope to make it paradise, we know that we have been forgiven in Christ and the greatest day is when we go home to be with the Lord. That is the fuel for the courage that Rami and millions of others have displayed throughout the history of mankind. As you pray for Ramis wife and children remember your brothers and sisters around the world who will pay the ultimate price for their faith in Christ, as will the families they leave behind.

Amazing, amazing, amazing from the wires;

"New York's iconic Empire State Building is to be lit up green from Friday in honor of the Muslim holiday of Eid, the biggest festival in the Muslim calendar marking the end of Ramadan, officials said.
"This is the first time that the Empire State Building will be illuminated for Eid, and the lighting will become an annual event in the same tradition of the yearly lightings for Christmas and Hannukah," according to a statement.
Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month, is expected to be celebrated in New York from Friday, depending on when the new moon is sighted, and the city's tallest skyscraper will remain green until Sunday."

Does anyone understand that they are celebrating the faith that is out to kill and conquer the western world? While that will not be seen in our lifetime, our generation is setting the stage for the next generation of Muslims to own this country and the western world. How in the world, does the Empire State Building, in the city that was directly attacked by Muslims, decide to embrace their faith? People are whistling by the graveyard if they think that this will do anything but display to the Middle East that America is weak. The Muslim faith is not interested in dialog or compromise, they have only one Koran given agenda, conquer and convert at the end of the sword if necessary. Just when I think I cannot be amazed, I stand amazed at this one!

It takes little more than this survey to explain the reality of the culture we live in. In a survey done by Kelton Research the following troubling results were;

1. 80 percent could name the Big Mac's primary ingredient – two all-beef patties – but less than 60 percent recalled the commandment "Thou shalt not kill."

2. 45 percent could recall the commandment "Honor your father and mother" while 76 percent remembered the Big Mac ingredient lettuce, 75 percent sesame-seed bun, 66 percent special sauce, 62 percent pickles and 60 percent cheese.

3. Among church-goers, 70 percent recalled "Thou shalt not kill," listed as "You shall not kill" in the survey, and 69 percent remembered "You shall not steal."

4. Survey participants also had an easier time remembering the names of the six children on the old TV series "The Brady Bunch" than the Ten Commandments.

We are only a generation removed from the days when the Ten Commandments were posted in classrooms and seen to be important for the lives of young people, and this is the result. While there is nothing magical about having them in a classroom, there is something to be said for the principles they represent being consistently taught. Why should any level of depravity shock us today when most people can more easily identify the ingredients of a Big Mac and the names of the kids on the Brady Bunch, than they can the Ten Commandments? As God has told us in His Word, you reap what you sow and we are reaping the destruction that is promised to those who would sow to the flesh!

It is frightening to see the lack of knowledge in our government when it comes to Islam. I have had the pleasure of interviewing a number of experts on my radio show, not the least of which is Brigitte Gabriel. On one occasion I interviewed her after she had appeared before a high level government committee, only to find out that none of them had ever looked at, studied or researched the Koran. These were politicians in power who were supposed to be making decisions on our security and they had no knowledge of the movement that seeks to overtake their own country. Along those same lines, our President was interviewed Friday on a Middle Eastern media outlet and he said the following;

"Well, first of all, I believe in an Almighty God, and I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God. That's what I believe. I believe that Islam is a great religion that preaches peace. And I believe people who murder the innocent to achieve political objectives aren't religious people, whether they be a Christian who does that – we had a person blow up our – blow up a federal building in Oklahoma City who professed to be a Christian, but that's not a Christian act to kill innocent people.
And I just simply don't subscribe to the idea that murdering innocent men, women and children – particularly Muslim men, women and children in the Middle East – is an act of somebody who is a religious person."

This is either a man who is knowingly lying for strategic advantage or a man who is incredibly mis-informed. How he can make the statement, " I believe that Islam is a great religion that preaches peace", is beyond me. Islam has the goal of conquering the world in the name of their prophet Mohamed and Allah. It sees non Muslims as people to be converted or destroyed. To deny that is to display incredible ignorance that calls into question the ability to lead and govern in times like these. While Evangelical leaders like Richard Land and Gary Bauer are quick to point out that we did not elect a theologian in chief, they would also do well to remember that theology better be understood quickly or we all are in trouble. Let us hope that whomever assumes the Presidency in 2008 has a better understanding of the world we live in and the enemy we face!

An 18 year old girl goes to an abortion clinic, and is brought into a room where without consent, before signing any papers she is ingested with a poison that will go to the 24 week old baby's heart and kill it. Three days later she is to give birth to a dead baby at the same clinic. The nurses want her to deliver into the toilet which she refuses to do, but rather delivers the dead child on the floor next to the baby, a sight that will haunt her the rest of her life. This was all done without her knowing the reality of what she was doing, without understanding the life that was in her, and most importantly without her consent. This sounds like the making of a fictional novel or major motion picture, but sadly this is exactly what happened to Michelle Armesto in 2003, when she was only 18. The leader of the perpetrators was the infamous Wichita abortionist George R. Tiller.

He is facing a multitude of charges that hopefully will put him behind bars for a very long time. The horror that Michelle faced is all to common. The abortion business is just that, a business. The money comes in from the sanctioned murder of children in the womb. It is surreal to even type these words, as you realize that we are a society that has allowed millions of babies to be murdered, and some reading this blog have argued for the "right" of that happening! Today Michelle Armesto lives day to day with the horrific thought that because of pressure she felt from her parents, because she went to an abortion clinic looking for information and help, because of that she had her baby murdered before she was even able to make the decision. It is going on every day, in your area somewhere, within 50 miles of where you live, babies are being murdered, the question to be asked is, what are you doing about it?

Marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman and God. It is to be a life long relationship where the two become one and their relationship displays the glory Christ and His Church. While that is the way God intended for marriage to be, we all know that all too often is it anything but that. We live in times where the divorce rate is astonishingly high. I believe that can be explained, as God had certain people in mind when He created marriage, but that is for another blog. While the reality of divorce impacts many families there is a certain classification that has to sadly deal with break up. Cancer patients! There are particular cancer sufferers who have a high rate of divorce, from the wires;

"In research presented at a meeting of the European Cancer Organization, Norwegian experts found women with cervical cancer had a 40 percent higher chance of getting divorced than other women. Men with testicular cancer were 20 percent more likely to get divorced than similar men without cancer. Both types of cancer are curable and are diagnosed at younger ages than other cancers. It seems to be worse for your marriage to get cancer early," said Astri Syse, an epidemiologist at the Norwegian Cancer Registry who led the study."

While marriages survive most cancers, those for whom the disease impacts their sexual lives have a high rate of divorce. What are we to deduce from this? Is sex the driving force behind marriage these days? Do men and women not see the beauty of marriage going beyond the physical, into the emotional and spiritual realm? We do not the answers for sure, but we do know that these words, "for better for worse, in sickness and in health, til death do us part", have sadly become nothing more than mere words!

Pete Palmer, a sophomore at Waxahachie High School was kicked off the school campus for the t-shirt he was wearing. You would think that is must have been really offensive. It would stand to reason that to be kicked out of school this shirt must have been heinous. What was the message of the t-shirt? John Edwards 08! This is the crime Palmer committed, he wore a political t-shirt. The school policy is;

“T-shirts, other than WISD clubs, organizations, sports, or spirit t-shirts, college or university t-shirts or solid-colored t-shirts, are prohibited."

This is a ridiculous rule. Could there not be the same issue if someone has a sports team t-shirt and someone else does not like that team? It is political correctness gone mad. There is nothing wrong with a political t-shirt and particularly in our country where freedom of expression, within reason, should be the norm. Palmer's parents are suing as they should. It is about time this tide of political correctness was reversed.

And lets face it, it is not as if Palmer's shirt had a message that anyone was going to listen to or follow! Sorry, I could not resist.

I was going to avoid this subject altogether, as I did not want to appear to be piling on, or hitting someone when they are down, but circumstances dictate it is time to write. Paula White, the health and wealth guru is getting a divorce from her husband and co-pastor Randy. Paula appears regularly on TBN, DayStar and other networks, selling her get rich, be healthy, believe and it will happen heresy. In spite of her teaching and in fact contrary to her teaching she is getting divorced. It would seem to me that if what she taught were true then she, of all people, would not have a failed marriage. It would also seem to hold true that in light of a failed marriage she would be stepping down from ministry at least for a while. And it would also seem right to expect a good portion of her followers to have their eyes opened up and move from supporting her and the heresy she teaches.

Sadly what would seem to be true and right and fitting in this case, is not at all what is happening. Paula White and her soon to be ex-husband are not slowing down one bit. Their respective ministries are going to continue as if nothing happened. While they decide who gets the 2.5 million dollar condo and where the private jets lands, they will continue to carry on as if nothing happened. For Paula that means continue the health and wealth gospel, asking for and receiving millions of dollars from people who will still believe that this woman is of God and that her message is consistent with the Word of God!

This is an example of the critical lack of Biblical discernment and knowledge among professed followers of Christ. The message that White and her peers preaches is one that would eliminate the Apostle Paul and Jesus Christ Himself. Yet millions of people watch, attend and give, even when it is right in their face that this woman does not practice what she preaches, and her message could not save her marriage. When people refuse to read and submit to the Word of God, when they spend little or not time in the Word , but depend on others to teach them, this is the result. While Paula gets divorced people keep sending her money. While it is revealed through court documents the lavish lifestyle she lives, people keep believing and sending her money. A case of the blind leading the blind, and we haven't even begun to discuss the Biblical problem of her being a pastor and having authority over men in the church!

It was 1992 and the young upstart Bill Clinton had just won the Presidential election. The polling data showed that if it were a head to head contest he would have lost to President Bush the elder. But there was a third party entry names Ross Perot who had picked off enough votes from Bush to secure the election for Clinton. Now that is not what Mr. Perot had in mind, and in fact he ran the best third party candidacy in recent memory, but the fact was and is that he cost Bust the election and handed to Bill Clinton. Ironically in a campaign season that has another Clinton, this time the Mrs. running there is a possibility of a replay of 1992.

Word has it that Dr. James Dobson and others are considering pulling from the Republican party and beginning a third party that better reflects their values. While a noble and even understandable idea, all it would do is hand the election to the inevitable Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. No third party is ever going to win an election in its inaugural year. It would take years for the party to develop the type of organizational strength that turns into the dollars it takes to produce a viable candidate, as sadly money means more than ideas these days.

But I have another question for Dr. Dobson and his colleagues, what about Mike Huckabee? Here is a true conservative who as Governor of Arkansas has executive experience, and as a debater has performed very well. Why not take those resources and contacts that would make up a third party and support a man who holds the values you are looking for right in your own backyard? Huckabee, with some monetary backing could not only become a serious contender, he would also in my opinion make a great President. He is a man who has ideas and convictions. He does not hold to the party line, and has taken positions both economically and socially that would resonate with much of America. Instead of a third party effort, we would all be better served with a "get behind Gov. Huckabee" effort. It would also show that you do not have to be a media darling, or one of the "top tier" candidates to run an effective campaign.
