With all that is going on in the world there is a pending case, under the radar, at the Supreme Court that will have powerful ramifications on the entire nation. The pending U.S. Supreme Court case originates in the District of Columbia, where authorities have banned handguns under the claim that such a limit is "reasonable" and therefore enforceable even given the rights granted by the 2nd Amendment. The second amendment speaks of

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Some have sought to interpret this in terms of having a Militia, and thus without a Militia there was no blanket right. That does not seem to get to the heart of this amendment which makes it clear that the people have a right to bear arms and that right "shall not be infringed". The critical point is this, if the Supreme Court allows the banning of handguns in the face of the 2nd Amendment then they have interpreted the Constitution as a living document, which is the road to the end of society.

The document that holds this country together is the Constitution, where men came together and brilliantly developed a government that had never before existed on earth. There was no Presidency before the Constitution, as every other government was some form of a Monarchy. These men who risked their lives to form this document were not creating a living document. The founders never intended for generations to come to put their own spin on the Constitution. In fact they purposed to create a vehicle of adding to the Constitution called Amendments. This was to prevent a group of Judges or a lone President from inflicting the will of a minority over the good of the majority.

This case will be worth watching as if the Constitution is viewed as "living", then you can be sure the United States of America can be seen as slowly dying!
