ARE YOU MENTALLLY ILL?

The American Journal of Psychiatry is known as a leading journal in its field, for whatever that is worth. In one of the latest issues there is breaking news of a new mental illness on the horizon. In its service to the community the journal has an article in it that speaks of, and I kid you not, sending excessive texts and emails as a new mental illness! From the wires;

"The article, by Dr Jerald Block, said there were four symptoms: suffering from feelings of withdrawal when a computer cannot be accessed; an increased need for better equipment; need for more time to use it; and experiencing the negative repercussions of their addiction."

While it is true we live in a fast paced world that is ever changing in technology, making it more and more convenient to communicate with one another, regardless of where we are in the world, this doc says it is mental illness to do that too much. Here is what this means; Everyone I know, including myself is mentally ill! Now I now some of you are thinking that where I am concerned that is not a surprise, but according to this study most of you are mentally ill as well.

Where and when will this preoccupation with diagnosing everything and everyone with some condition stop? Sure, some people spend too much time texting and emailing, but that does not deem them mentally ill! How about this as a diagnosis, they spend too much time texting and emailing! I am sure the next event in this new area of illness will be some predatory pharmaceutical company coming up with a new drug to sell to people to help them with their "problem", making millions off of them in the process.

The ones who are mentally ill are the people who write articles like this and those who believe them! But the good news is that the prescription is much cheaper and healthier, stop reading and believing such rubbish!! I would like to write more but I have to check my email.

blog you later!
