HOW DO YOU VIEW MARRIAGE?

There is startling news from the others side of the pond today. The number of men and women getting married is at the lowest level is has ever been since they started tracking such things one hundred and fifty years ago. Some attribute this to the Labour's benefits system, which disregards the status of husbands and wives and pays parents extra to stay single. Those from this party have a term, "Marriage Lite" which means living together outside of marriage, and it is advocated by many.

You may mark this down as a moment in time where you were able to see the future. A lack of marriage in a society is the beginning of the end. It is the break down of the family which leads to the breakdown of the community which leads to the breakdown of the state which leads to the breakdown and end of the country. Once the family unit is broken apart and rendered meaningless, the rest of the country will follow suit.

God is the one who designed the family unit. It was His idea from the beginning that a man and a woman would leave their father and mother to be together in marriage. That alone tells us all we need to know about the glory and need for marriage in our world. To intentionally work to end something that God has designed and created is to work directly against God. To do that is to end up in a place of despair, destruction and damnation, as God will not be mocked. Much better is to follow and honor the order and design that the Creator has set forth. Britain has made their choice, and soon we will see their demise, unless God's people enter the fray to stem the tide.

The question for the rest of us is how do we value marriage? Is it the butt of our jokes, the target of our scorn? Or is it held up as great and glorious, a tremendous gift from God for the enjoyment of His people and the glory of His name? A critical question to ask yourself as the attitude shown today might be the reality that is tomorrow!
